Why is Rastah so expensive?

Rastah is expensive because it is built as a luxury product: hand-loomed cloth, block printing and embroidery done by artisans, small production runs, international fashion positioning, and pricing set for export customers in US dollars. In October 2026 its Pakistan store listed t-shirts from about Rs. 12,000 to Rs. 69,400 and hoodies from about Rs. 37,400 to Rs. 85,400.

If you have looked at a Rastah tee, seen the price and closed the tab, you are not alone — "why is Rastah so expensive" is a question people type into Google every week. This page answers it properly: the actual prices as of October 2026, the six things you are paying for, which of those you will notice in daily wear, and what to buy instead if you want the oversized Pakistani streetwear look without a five-figure bill. For background on the brand itself, start with our Rastah clothing brand guide.

For scale: an ordinary high-street tee in Pakistan costs Rs. 900 to Rs. 1,800, and an independent streetwear tee Rs. 1,500 to Rs. 3,500 (see t-shirt price in Pakistan). A mid-range Rastah tee is roughly ten of those.

The six reasons

1. Hand craft, paid for by the hour

Most of what makes a Rastah piece recognisable is done by hand: hand-loomed cloth, wood-block printing, embroidery, patchwork. These are slow, skilled jobs, and the brand works with artisans across Pakistan to do them. A machine-printed graphic costs a few hundred rupees per tee; hours of embroidery do not.

2. Small runs

Rastah releases in limited volumes. Design, sampling, photography and pattern work cost roughly the same whether you make 50 pieces or 5,000, so with a small run each piece carries a much larger share of that fixed cost. Scarcity is also part of the appeal, and the price reflects it.

3. Luxury positioning

Rastah is sold and written about as luxury fashion, not as casualwear. It was the first Pakistani brand on the London Fashion Week schedule in 2023, its founder has been on the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia list and the BoF 500, and it has been worn by Riz Ahmed, Anil Kapoor and Zayn Malik. That kind of profile is expensive to build and is priced into every piece.

4. Priced in dollars for an export customer

Most of Rastah's sales are international, and its main store prices in US dollars. The Pakistan store price is largely that dollar price converted. A US$70 tee is close to Rs. 20,000 before anything else, so even the brand's cheapest tees land far above what a Pakistani buyer expects to pay.

5. Heavy fabric and finishing

The cloth itself is heavier and more expensive than standard jersey — garment-dyed, loomed or textured fabrics, with proper finishing on seams, collars and hems. This is a real cost, though a smaller one than people assume; good 200 GSM combed cotton is available in Pakistan for a fraction of the Rastah price. The fabric explains the difference between a Rs. 900 tee and a Rs. 3,000 tee, not between Rs. 3,000 and Rs. 25,000.

6. Brand premium

Finally, the name. Once a label is established as the Pakistani streetwear brand that international press covers, it can charge for that association. This is true of every luxury brand everywhere, and it is the part of the price that buys you nothing physical.

What you will actually notice

Of the six, you will feel the craft (reason 1) and the fabric (reason 5) when you wear the piece. Small runs, positioning, dollar pricing and the brand premium (reasons 2, 3, 4 and 6) are real costs but not things you can touch. Our 7-point t-shirt quality check lists the things you can check with your hands — fabric weight, stitching, print method, collar recovery — and none of them require a Rs. 25,000 price.

Is it worth it?

If you want one hand-embroidered, design-led piece from the only Pakistani label at that level, and the price is comfortable, yes — nothing else from Pakistan sits in that category. If what you want is the oversized streetwear look for regular wear, most of the money is going to things you will not notice, and a tee at a tenth of the price does the job. The same look for under Rs. 3,000

The Rastah silhouette — oversized, drop-shoulder, Urdu script, a strong back print — is not expensive to make well. It is the embroidery and hand printing that are. Every RAAH tee is cut oversized with dropped shoulders on cotton jersey, with original artwork and flat measurements on each product page:

Frequently asked questions

How much is a Rastah t-shirt in Pakistan?

On 23 October 2026 Rastah's Pakistan store listed t-shirts from about Rs. 12,000 to Rs. 69,400, with most between Rs. 24,000 and Rs. 27,000. Prices change with each drop.

Why are Rastah hoodies so expensive?

Rastah hoodies (about Rs. 37,400 to Rs. 85,400) are heavy fleece with embroidery or appliqué, made in small runs and priced for an international customer in dollars. The hand work is the main cost.

Is Rastah worth the price?

For a hand-crafted, design-led piece you will keep for years, many buyers think so. For everyday oversized tees, most of the price goes to craft, positioning and brand premium you will not notice in daily wear.

Is there a cheaper alternative to Rastah?

Yes. Independent Pakistani streetwear labels make oversized graphic tees for Rs. 1,500 to Rs. 3,500. RAAH's tees are Rs. 2,099 to Rs. 3,000 with delivery across Pakistan.

Does Rastah have sales?

Rastah sometimes discounts older pieces on its own store. Check the brand's site directly; the figures on this page are full prices read in October 2026.
