Oversized T-Shirt Size Guide: How to Pick Your Size

Updated 22 September 2026 · 5 min read

Black oversized t-shirt laid flat with measuring tapes across the chest and down the length

To pick an oversized t-shirt size, lay a tee you like flat and measure straight across the chest, then compare it with the brand's size chart. RAAH oversized tees measure 19, 20, 21 and 22 inches across the chest for S, M, L and XL, with lengths from 26 to 29 inches. Take your usual size for the intended loose fit; size down only if you want it closer to the body.

What "oversized" actually means

An oversized t-shirt is cut wider than a regular tee on purpose. The shoulder seam sits lower on the arm, the chest is roomier and the sleeves fall closer to the elbow. The loose shape is the design, so an oversized tee in your normal size should already look relaxed. You do not need to size up to get the look.

How to measure a t-shirt you already own

  • Pick a t-shirt whose fit you like and lay it flat on a table, front facing up.
  • Chest: measure straight across, one inch below the armpits, from side seam to side seam.
  • Length: measure from the highest point of the shoulder, next to the collar, down to the hem.
  • Compare both numbers with the size chart below and choose the closest size.

These are flat garment measurements, not body measurements. A flat chest of 20 inches means the shirt is about 40 inches all the way round.

Should you size up or down?

  • Your usual size: the intended oversized, drop-shoulder look.
  • One size down: a closer fit that still feels relaxed, good if you are between sizes and prefer less fabric.
  • One size up: an extra-baggy streetwear look with a longer hem.

If you are between two sizes, go by length. Most people notice a hem that is too long or too short before they notice an extra half inch across the chest.

Keeping the fit after washing

Cotton tees can tighten slightly if they are washed hot or tumble dried. Wash cold with the shirt turned inside out, dry it in the shade and never iron directly over the print. That keeps both the size and the graphic looking new for longer.

Frequently asked questions

Should I size up for an oversized t-shirt?

No. Oversized t-shirts are already cut loose, so your usual size gives the intended fit. Size up only if you want an extra-baggy look.

What size oversized t-shirt should I get if I wear medium?

Start with M. A RAAH medium measures 20 inches across the chest and 27 inches long; if that is longer than you like, try S.

Can I exchange a RAAH tee if the size is wrong?

Yes. Unworn items in original packaging can be exchanged for another size within 7 days of delivery, subject to stock.
